(2) About me

Hi - I've been in Boston now for about 10 years (with a 4 year stint in Helsinki) and love this city. I grew up in London which was maniacal - I loved its intensity; Boston is much more like a small town; you don't have to fight so much to get around. I currently do research at a medical school which keeps me quite busy. My wife has just got a job on the South shore of Massachusetts which is fantastic, but is too far for her to commute - so she's got a place to stay down there which frees up rooms here! We see each other as often as we can, but its not an ideal arrangement. When I'm not working I find myself doing a lot of sport: tennis, running, swimming, squash, cycling, hiking, canoeing; I don't consider myself a sports nut - I just find it fun. I'm trying to learn how to sail but I'm not doing a very good job.

I've lived with a lot of people in shared houses before, and always found it entertaining. I'm generally easygoing, flexible and tolerant of other people; I'm hoping for roomies who are similar. I respect peoplesprivacy and space but I also like to chat, hang out, perhaps jump down the pub for a drink but I'm often tied up working. But summers in Boston are fabulous and (for me) should be used for outdoor stuff, especially around here where its extremely green. We're right next to Forest Hills cemetery which is quite beautiful and tranquil, close to an enormouse Arboretum and about 20 mins drive away from Blue Hills reservation.

We have multiple forms of public transport which are close; Forest Hills station (orange line) is the subway/T/metro/underground system here - the station is 10 mins away, there's a bus which goes to the station (#32) which is 3 mins away. The #39 bus goes straight to the Longwood medical area - the stop is 10 mins away at the T station. I rarely use public transport because cycling is much more convenient and flexible, and cycling to the Longwood medical area (where I work) goes all the way along the 'Emerald necklace' (a string of lakes connected by a river surrounded by more greenery).

Winters here are cool too. In England snow was a rare commodity - we'd be thrilled to see the smallest specks of flakes drop. Here, we get days with inches and inches of snow - big fluffy snowflakes. I understand the rest of the world finds it irritating but I love it. There's a strong community spirit here - everyone gets out and helps shovel, and we have a large garden area around here where snowball fights happen - unfortunately to do any decent skiing we have to drive north.

We're on the edge of JP (Jamaica plain) which is a vibrant, energetic place. Cafes, pubs, music aplenty.

So anyway - enough rambling. I'm looking for fun, friendly, serious, hardworking roomates; give me a shout if your interested: +1 978-518-0107, or email me: shop.mallick@gmail.com
