Loss of heartbroken (hbr) function phenocopies loss of heartless (htl) function in the embryonic mesoderm. Transverse sections of embryos stained with an antibody to Twist (expressed throughout the mesoderm at this stage of development) show here that htl-dependent mesoderm migration fails in a hbr mutant embryo.
Loss of hbr function phenocopies loss of breathless (btl) function in the trachea. These embryos were stained with a monoclonal antibody that recognizes the tracheal system.
